The practice of insight meditation that can abandon the defilements lying dormant in sense objects (ārammaṇānusaya) by means of partial removal (tadaṅgappahana) is even better than restraining defilements by means of reflection. 41 Thus path knowledge, keeping in mind the purpose for using the four requisites, and insight knowledge are all considered part of restraint by means of wisdom. Nonrestraint is the opposite of these three kinds of wisdom, namely delusion (moha). Restraint by means of forbearance Restraint by means of forbearance is called khantisaṃvara in Pāḷi.

Breaking the monastic precepts either verbally or bodily is a breach of the monastic code.
