By Tsvi Kuflik, Shlomo Berkovsky, Francesca Carmagnola, Dominikus Heckmann, Antonio Krüger

Ubiquitous consumer modeling differs from customary person modeling via 3 extra suggestions: ongoing modeling, ongoing sharing, and ongoing exploitation. structures that percentage their person versions will enhance the insurance, the extent of aspect, and the reliability of the built-in person types and therefore let greater capabilities of version. Ubiquitous person modeling implies new demanding situations of interchangeability, scalability, scrutability, and privacy.

This quantity offers result of a chain of workshops with regards to Ubiquitous person Modeling considering the fact that 2003 and extra workshops at a variety of different meetings e.g. on person Modeling and Adaptive Hypermedia within the final 4 years.

The eight revised complete papers awarded have been conscientiously reviewed and chosen from the simplest lectures given on the workshops and have been considerably prolonged to be integrated within the book.

With respect to the works proposed in the community, our approach is not performed through the use of a shared format approach, nor exploiting algorithms to bootstrap user models in one system by using information from other systems. On the contrary, we propose an intermediate solution inspired by evidential reasoning and recent advances in the Semantic Web to allow flexibility in representing user models and to provide semantic mapping of the user data from one system to another. The strength of the approach is its high flexibility, which allows it to be applied to many different user-adaptive systems, and intelligent information systems in general.

For such a reason, a punctual query would return misleading results. rdf >}X{Carlo} to retrieve the complete collection of statements about the user U from each provider. 5 Handling Semantic Heterogeneity of User Models To illustrate our proposal to perform user model interoperability despite of the semantic heterogeneity of user models, let us consider the above example where the receiver wants to know Carlo’s interest in Rock music. This feature, as well as the other user model data, is represented in the shareable user model of the receiver in the form of a RDF statement.
